One of our clients was interested in designing a virtual mobile operator, that would sell tourist SIM-cards. This type of SIM-cards needs to have a low worldwide call price and lack of roaming charges.

In the course of intensive consultations with Tottoli GSM specialists, the future operator revealed main tourist SIM-cards market players. This allowed the client to formulate the main advantages of the product and to create the optimal single call price.

The key point of a tourist SIM-card is that the traveler should be comfortable to use it worldwide, that means same rates for Europe, Asia, the US etc. In case of setting low price per minute in the area where it is possible, the virtual mobile operator will suffer considerable expense in other regions. Therefore, it was important to find an attractive solution for the subscribers and a beneficial one for the operator.

Initially, we managed to form a single rate, that functions according to a callback technology. A call goes from a subscriber to a Tottoli GSM server, where it gets processed and then it goes back to the subscriber’s handset as an incoming call. The called party receives an incoming call, and the caller waits only 3-5 seconds.

The new virtual mobile operator, has formed 2 rates: per-minute and flat. For the per-minute rate, there are several pre-paid service packages − they make calls even more profitable. The flat rate with a monthly subscription fee allows to allocate a virtual number.

Due to the fact, that the subscribers of the new virtual operator communicate a lot and consume a large amount of traffic, we decided not charge the company for the cost of SIM cards themselves.
